Los Angeles, CA – September 2021 – SEX RECORDS first launched in 2018 as a special project exclusively at Maxfield LA – part of an ongoing artist series developed by Laurie Lynn Stark for purpose of nurturing emerging talent – the collection sold out the first night. Today, DiGiacomo (now Creative Director of Chrome Hearts) followed up with the opening of a 3-day retail experience designed as a riff on the big-box toy store concept of the nineties - long before the days of online shopping & over-abundant accessibility ever existed.

I always liked the word ‘SEX’ – the good and the bad – it puts people on edge.
— Matt DiGiacomo

Staged in a never-before-seen Chrome Hearts space adjacent to the West Village Flagship location, the nostalgia of matchbox cars & saturated neon shelves alongside DiGiacomo’s bold art pieces is the first installation in this venue. This unique annex is intended by the Starks to be an experimental studio where they can shine a light on the artists & creatives they admire – from chefs to athletes to performance artists – the space will be a creative playground where they can merge worlds with innovators from every field.

Having met Matt at a very young age, he came into the Chrome Hearts world thru friends and connected with the spirit of the decades-old company. Moving thru various creative departments within the delicate eco-system of Chrome Hearts, the Starks developed opportunities with him to hone his art – specifically painting & illustrating. Over the years that followed, Matt produced several one-night-only experiences, engaged in “live” illustration events and worked alongside the Chrome Hearts family to create limited edition capsule collections. For this 2nd Sex Records collection, a hypothetical record label seen thru the lens of DiGiacomo’s imagination – special items include leather-Sex-patched vintage Carhartt work pants, leather racing jackets, camo printed shirts & carpenter shorts as well as exclusive t-shirts & hats. Aligned with the in-store launch opening to the public today by appointment,

the Chrome Hearts website will have a limited-edition color of the 99 Eyes sunglasses exclusively available online.

MATT DiGIACOMO Working instinctually and painting his illustrations on walls, apparel, objects, and endless mediums – particularly drawn to the ordinary & unexpected– Matt DiGiacomo’s work is a lens into the life & times of his mind. At first glance, the work softly disarms and may be described as playful characters accompanied by quirky text. . .yet, that is only one tilt. Unraveling the messages further, the work confronts socially minded issues and engages its audience where they least expect it. Not eager to be categorized by traditional genres, DiGiacomo is most fascinated by exploring new applications and initiating conversation through his art.
