New Yorkers don’t cook, restaurants, and food delivery services are an essential part of our lives.
— AMELIE KANG

What is your name, age, where are you from, and where do/did you work?

Ning (Amelie) Kang @ameliekang, 29, Beijing, MáLà Project.

How did you feel about your role and the industry before COVID-19?

The food industry in New York City has always been exciting and active. People love to go out, dinner, drinks, coffee. New Yorkers don't cook, restaurants, and food delivery services are an essential part of our lives. Being a part of the exciting industry, we were always busy and enjoying ourselves.

Two months is not a long time, but it's already changing our lifestyle dramatically. Adaptations in the restaurant industry are inevitable.

What are your thoughts now?

It's hard to imagine all the fun-loving New Yorkers are not able to go out for food and drinks. And we don't know how long it will last. Two months is not a long time, but it's already changing our lifestyle dramatically. Adaptations in the restaurant industry are inevitable. Right now we have to observe closely and react fast to keep up with any new changes.

If you could have one wish in terms of support right now, what would it be?

Anything that can help eliminate the virus.

What's your biggest stress reliever right now?
PopSugar, @pamela_rf workout videos, Coursera, and Animal Crossing.

We are excited to announce Thank You, Come Again, a collaboration between busboy and Artsy magazine. TYCA is a digital series providing a platform for our neighbors, friends, and family who work in the restaurant industry. There are over 15.1M people employed in a field that has been so heavily rocked by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We are honored to share their stories with you. Thank you, come again.
