The film “Shifting,” created by Trinidadian-Nigerian American visual artist & creative producer, Raven Irabor, and St. Thomian American multidisciplinary artist, Marissa Lewis, explores the process of self-evolution. When we shift towards our purpose, it’s never one large jump. It is the little things that occur on a day to day, that over a period of time, become evolving. Inspired by Solange’s usage of repetition in her, “When I Get Home” album, the artists utilize repetitive audio and movement to reinforce the multitude of little moments that catapulted into major differences that occurred this year. For many people, 2019 has been a challenging year leaving some people mentally/emotionally/physically drained. This film encourages people, especially creatives, to recognize the tiny shift made this year that has prepared them for the transformation that will transpire for them in this new decade.
