Folks may be inclined to write her off as another white-girl appropriator, etc, but that would be a huge mistake before giving her work a listen. Lil Freckles displays a brilliant self-deprecating charm, and ownership of her privilege while taking social risks and dropping legit bars with a songwriting skill and sense of humor that is hard to deny on Yuri Beat’s produced “Rules.”
Her new EP called “Sleep On It” comes out on January 27, with distro from Soulspazm and will be streaming on all major platforms.
Freckles describe her musical style as “a combination of Young Thug and Sarah Silverman.”
In addition to playing all over NYC at rap and comedy shows, She had music featured on HBO’s “Girls,” performed at FunFunFun Fest in Austin TX, was interviewed by Noisey and profiled in the “UP Next” Column of The New York Times. Lil Freckles will be celebrating her EP release at Piano’s NYC on Jan 26th at 8 pm. Find out more info here.
